Choices For Camping Vary With Experience

Forest Service and private campgrounds both are plentiful throughout the valley and along the shores of Lake Koocanusa.

The length of stay at Forest Service camps is 14 days. Fees range from none to $8.

Rexford Bench Campground on Lake Koocanusa is the biggest campground on Lake Koocanusa. Three different camping sites at Rexford give campers more than 150 campsites to choose from. Rexford Bench also has a boat ramp, swimming beach and a dump station. You can make reservations at Rexford through the Forest Service Reservation Center.

Other large Forest Service campgrounds around Lake Koocanusa are Rocky Gorge, Peck Gulch and McGillivray. All have boat access.

private campgrounds on Lake Koocanusa are Mariners Haven near Rexford and Koocanusa Marina near Libby Dam.

Another popular Forest Service campground with boaters is the North Dickey Lake Campground. North Dickey Lake has 25 camp sites, boat access and a swimming beach.

In the high country, campgrounds are located at Therriault Lakes. Both Big Therriault Lake and Little Therriault Lake are good fishing lakes and have small boat access. The campgrounds are also good starting points for a network of trails that meander through the Ten Lakes Scenic Area.

Other private campground in the Tobacco Valley include the Blue Mountain RV Park near the Canadian Border, Creekside RV Park in Eureka, EZ-K Park in Rexford and Libby Dam RV Park near Libby. The Town of Eureka also has camp sites on the Tobacco River at Riverside Park.
