Annual County Fair Has Something For Everyone

The Lincoln County Fair is an important annual event in the community. This year it takes place Aug. 26-29, 2004, at the fairgrounds in Eureka. The fair will have something for everyone, with many displays, game booths, entertainment, downtown parades, and dog shows to name a few.

A big attraction at the fair is The Bull Thing, scheduled for Aug. 28, 2004. This event is strictly bull riding, and the big purse draws top bull riders from all over Montana and Canada. Cowboy rookies or professionals are able to compete in his event.

The purpose of the fair is education and to encourage people of the county to raise better farm and garden products and to encourage cooking, canning, sewing and the arts. The lady who receives the most points from the awards is named Our Fair Lady.

It is also a time to have fun, eat, socialize, compete in horseshoe pitching, kids races and games or just sit on the grass and listen to the musicians.

New to the fair are the annual quilt auction and the Country Contest. The quilt auction was planned by the fair board to give the quilters more exposure as well as an opportunity to recoup some of the expenses of making a quilt. Country Contest events include a haybale stack, kids wheelbarrow race, greased pig contest, chicken scramble, tug of war and more.

If you are in the area this last weekend in August stop in at the fair and check it out.
